This section of the NSSI portal contains geospatial resources for all North Slope stakeholders. Resources include thematic maps, an interactive, web-based GIS application, and links to internet Geographic Information System (GIS) resources.

 

The thematic maps were created to provide pre-made, print-ready, maps of the North Slope and the Greater North Slope Region depicting a variety of data. Thematic maps available include:

The NSSI Internet Map Server (IMS) allows users to manipulate and visualize geo-spatial data sets related to the North Slope through their web browser.

A list of internet GIS resources were compiled by the NSSI Science Technical Advisory Panel (STAP), GIS and Remote Sensing Subcommittee. These GIS dataset are accessible though the following links and are organized as follows:

  • Interactive Online Maps – Websites with internet mapping applications or interfaces
  • GIS Data – Websites with GIS data or metadata relevant to arctic research
  • Static Maps – Websites with pre-made maps for downloading and printing
  • General/Non-GIS Data – Websites with data or metadata relevant to arctic research (although the data available through these websites may not be in GIS format, the data may be useful to GIS/GII development)
