The Lake St. Clair Regional Monitoring Project is a collaborative undertaking of four southeastern Michigan Counties: Macomb, Oakland, St. Clair and Wayne. The Macomb County Health Department was designated as the administrative, coordinating and fiduciary agency for the Project.
The Partners choose to implement the Project primarily through private sector environmental consulting firms and laboratories, selected by a request-for-proposal process; and also through the Michigan District of the United States Geological Survey.
The Project functions with guidance from a Policy Advisory Committee which includes of representatives of partner Counties, the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the Macomb County Water Quality Board, the United States Geological Survey and the Macomb/St. Clair Inter-County Water Quality Management Group. The Advisory Committee provides broad oversight for the Project, ensures coordination of water quality monitoring and related projects in the vicinity of Lake St. Clair, and encourages commitment of additional resources needed to continue and enhance priority environmental monitoring.
This Project is funded by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, the United States Geological Survey, the Macomb County Board of Commissioners and in-kind contributions of the Project’s Partner Counties.
