Introduction
This section of the website allows users to retrieve water quality and sediment quality data from the Lake St. Clair (LSC) Regional Monitoring Program database. This page briefly describes the options available for retrieving data. In addition, data for 'Selected Parameters' (i.e., conductivity, dissolved oxygen, flow, pH, and temperature) can be accessed through Flow and Rainfall near the bottom of this page. Water Quality and Sediment Quality Data Retrieval Water quality and sediment quality data can be retrieved from the Lake St. Clair database using the query form page, which can be found in the table of contents on the left side of the screen. To retrieve data, follow these steps: Step 1: Once you have accessed the Query Form page, select one of the three types of search options: (1) single sampling location, (2) single parameter, or (3) multiple sampling locations and/or parameters. If you wish to limit your retrieval to data that is outside the acceptable range of values, check the box below the query types. Step 2: Specify the search criteria. The criteria options that you will see will depend on the type of search that you selected in Step 1. You will be instructed to select a sampling location(s), test(s) or both depending on the type of search that you selected in Step 1. Click the “Continue” button to run your query. Step 3: After a few seconds, the results of your retrieval will appear on the screen. At this point you may sort your data or change your data retrieval criteria. If you want to download the data, click the “Export” button to export your results as an Excel document. If you want to access the data now, click the 'Access Query Form' Continue button.
Other Data Retrieval Options In addition to the main data retrieval page, there are other options for browsing data related to the Lake St. Clair Regional Monitoring Project. These options can be selected by clicking on the appropriate entry in the hyperlinks listed below.
Interactive Map – Allows users to interactively map the sampling locations.
Sampling Locations – Lists the location of the sampling locations.
Sampling Events – Explains the sampling events.
Flow and Rainfall – Contains related time-series data on rainfall continuous water quality parameters and streamflow.
Water Quality Parameters – Describes the testing parameters and their acceptable ranges.
User Manual More detailed information on how to search the database is available in the User Manual. A link to the manual is found in the table of contents on the left side of the screen. Note on the Sampling Locations On several of this website’s pages you will find maps showing locations of the various water sampling locations. Some of these are called LSC Regional Monitoring Project sampling locations, shown as blue circles. Some or all of the water sampling and monitoring at these locations, with Site ID prefixes of BE, BL, CL, PI and SC, was done for the first time under the auspices of this project. Other sampling locations, called LSC Assessment sampling locations, are shown as red triangles. Seasonal water and sediment sampling by Macomb County Health Department has been conducted annually since 1998 at these sampling locations; with SITE ID prefixes of N, O and W and with suffix FS. ‘N’ indicates nearshore locations (with samples collected in waist deep water), ‘O’ indicates offshore locations (with samples collected approximately ¼ to ½ mile from shore, ‘W’ indicates watershed locations (with samples collected at strategic locations in the Clinton River watershed within Macomb County) and ‘FS’ indicates foreshore locations (with samples collected at the shoreline).
